Deloris Fijak

Deloris Fijak, 103, of Fort Gratiot, died, Friday, December 25, 2020.

She was born October 4, 1917 in East Chicago, Indiana to the late Ira and Amelia Rotruck. She married Theodore Fijak Sr. on March 19, 1938 in Evanston, Illinois. He died May 5, 1998.

Deloris was employed for 17 years with Time Inc. in Chicago until her retirement in 1977. She and her husband moved to Port Huron in 1990 to be close to her daughter and son-in-law who live in London, Ontario. She was a volunteer with the Girl Scouts, Port Huron Hospital, American Red Cross and the Port Huron Area School District where she was a former volunteer of the year. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by two children, Theodore (Deanna) Fijak Jr. and Mary (James) Thomas; five grandchildren, Timothy (Joanna) Fijak, Patty (Robert) Driscoll, Kevin Fijak, Kathleen (Jason) Smith and Caroline (Darcy) Goettling; ten great grandchildren, Rebecca, Robert, Patricia, Courtney, Kevin, Monica, Carter, Hannah, Abbigail and Jack; two great-great grandchildren, Evelyn and Tyler; and many nieces.

She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Fijak; and a grandson, Michael Fijak.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in First Presbyterian Church.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, First Presbyterian Church or McLaren Hospice.
