Marvin Quant

Marvin Quant, 97, of Lexington, died Saturday, November 5, 2011. He was born April 1, 1914 in Huron County to the late David and Susanna Quant. He married Evelyn Stein on May 3, 1935 in Port Huron. She died December 24, 2008. Mr. Quant was employed by Huron Automatic Screw Company for 30 years, retiring as Plant Superintendent in 1979. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. After retirement, he worked as a security guard. He was a member of American Legion Maryville Post #449 and was a 32nd Degree Mason with Port Huron Lodge #58 F. & A.M and a member of Scottish Rite, Valley of Detroit. He is survived by a son, Dwight (Linda) Quant of Marysville; a son-in-law, Jim Hills of Marysville; six grandchildren, Brenda (Carey) King, Sheila Shiland (Andre Bernier), Harry (Jodie) Shiland, Kevin (Janet) Quant, Kelli (Dennis) Thick and Kari Quant; ten great grandchildren, Jim, Tonia, Shanon, Jennifer, Brad, Taylor, Logan, Hailey, Kylie and Luke; eight great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joan Hills; two brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 10, 2011 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dwight Quant, Harry Shiland, Carey King, Jim LaVere, Andre Bernier and Larry LaVere. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.
