Obituary

Nancy Lee Hext, 79, of Port Huron, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 12, 2021.

She was born July 19, 1941 in Monroe to the late Willard and Matilda Waldvogel.

On October 5, 1963 she married Roger Hext in Monroe, where they made their home. In 1986 they moved to Ellsworth where they owned and operated Ellsworth Village Market. Roger passed away on January 2, 1999. After Roger’s death, Nancy moved to Port Huron to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Chris.

She enjoyed playing volleyball, softball and camping. Nancy was a humble person who was selfless and had a heart of service. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Michele (Chris) Koch, Deanna (Mark) Veldkamp and Charlene (Corey) Essenberg; grandchildren, Jessica (Ross) Camastra, Keith (Kourtney) Koch, Cameron (Danae) Koch, Gretchen Rose Veldkamp, McKenzie Essenberg, Hannah Essenberg and Luke Essenberg; great grandchildren, Filomena Camastra and Koah Koch; siblings, David (Judy) Waldvogel, Linda Waldvogel (Margaret Fox) and Keith (Sandy) Waldvogel; brother-in-law, Jim Reynolds; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Reynolds.

Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Sunday, February 14, 2021 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. A limited number of people will be allowed in at a time. Please wear a mask for the safety and comfort of others.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 15, 2021 at Hillside Wesleyan Church. The Reverend Jim Miller will officiate.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Monroe.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Parkinson’s Disease Association.
