Obituary

Clayton Lee Furness, 88, of Fort Gratiot, died Tuesday, March 30, 2021.

He was born October 18, 1932 in Avoca to the late Melford and Marie Furness. He married Janet Rawlings on March 30, 1956 in Fort Gratiot. She died on February 13, 2015 after 58 years of marriage.

Clayton was a dairy farmer for 35 years and a member of the Black River Antique Tractor Club. He served with the U.S. Army in Korea and was a longtime member of North Street United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his son, Ted (Cindy) Furness; grandchildren, Christopher and Shari Furness; brothers, Norman (Janelle) and Gerald (Julie) Furness; sister, Vivian Swanson; and sisters-in-law, Jerrie Furness and Naomi (Lyle) Thompson. He was preceded in death by his sister, Armetta Samson; brothers, Harold and Clifford Furness; and brothers-in-law, Duaine Samson and Albert Rawlings.

Visitation for the public will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 1, 2021 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. A limited number of people will be allowed in at a time. Please wear a mask for the safety and comfort of others.

Private family services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 2, 2021 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend Drew Mills will officiate. Friends may view the livestream by going to Clayton’s obituary page on the funeral home website.

Burial will be in Burtchville Township Cemetery.
