Obituary

Donald James Thiede Sr., 74, of Macomb Township, died Thursday, April 29, 2021.

He was born July 5, 1946 in Detroit and married Sharon Weaver on February 22, 1969 in the Port Huron Assembly of God Church.

Donald was a 1964 graduate of Port Huron High School and received his Associate Degree in Electronics from St. Clair County Community College. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran and achieved the rank of Sergeant. Don retired from DTE Energy after 37 years as an Engineering Technician. Don was a 35-year member of Lakeside Assembly of God Church.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sharon; sons, Donald J. (Stacey) Thiede Jr. and Steve (Tara) Thiede; daughter-in-law, Nicole Thiede; grandchildren, Donald III, Thomas, Ryan, Maxwell, Samuel, Johnathan and Mason Thiede; sisters, Sandra (Robert) Patton and Connie (Earl) Damaska; and brother, Tony Bastion. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy S. Thiede; parents, Harold and Florence Thiede; and birth mother, Edith (Herb) Bastion.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2021 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. A limited number of people will be allowed at a time. Please wear a mask for the safety and comfort of others.

Private family funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. Friends may view the service livestream by visiting Don’s page of the funeral home website and are also welcome to join the family in the funeral home parking lot at 11:45 for the procession to the cemetery and graveside services. Pastor Phil Krist of Lakeside Assembly of God will officiate.

Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Port Huron Township. Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Donald’s family.
