Charles William “Charlie Tuna” Peyerk, 71, of Port Huron died unexpectedly Tuesday, May 4, 2021 while planting flowers.
He was born March 14, 1950 in Harbor Beach to the late Julius and Marilyn Peyerk.
Charlie graduated from Marysville High School in 1968. He worked for Dan’s Excavating with Operating Engineers Local #324 for many years. Later, he worked for Detroit Edison. Charlie was an active member of St. Christopher Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Marysville Chapter #9526 and Father John R. Hogan Assembly #2521, Moose Lodge #158, and Blue Water Aerie #3702 Fraternal Order of Eagles. He loved helping others and especially enjoyed volunteering with the Council on Aging, Mid City Nutrition Soup Kitchen, Habitat for Humanity, and the Marysville Band Boosters. He was a big fan of the Marysville Vikings.
He is survived by his daughter, Carole Kirby; three sons, Scott (Jamie) Peyerk, Corey (Robin) Peyerk, and Matthew Peyerk; nine grandchildren, Scott (Tiffany) Rich II, Amberlynn Stephens (Tyler Belkiewicz), Richard Stephens II (Kimberly Quant), Finnegan, Freya, Ferris, Kennedy, Riley and Brady Peyerk; six great grandchildren, Sleven, Ava-Lynne, Marshall, Ella Kay, Emily and Kayden; a sister, Therese (Mike) Heiler; his former wife, Vickie Lixey; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his sons, Darlene Peyerk; a great grandson, Maverick; and an infant sister, Carol.
Visitation will be Monday from 2-8 in the Marysville Funeral Home. A limited number of people will be allowed in at a time. Please wear a mask for the safety and comfort of others. A Scripture Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friends may view the Scripture Service livestream on Charlie’s page of the funeral home website.
Mr. Peyerk will lie in state at St. Christopher Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 from 10 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. The Reverend James Arwady will officiate.
Inurnment will be in the Riverlawn Cemetery Columbarium, Marysville.
