Obituary

Minnie Lee Witherspoon, 101, of Port Huron, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday, May 6, 2021.

She was born December 8, 1919 in Gadsden, Alabama to the late Wyllie and Annie White. She married James H. Witherspoon on November 6, 1948 in Port Huron. He died January 25, 2007 after 58 years of marriage.

Minnie worked as a Nursing Assistant at Marwood Nursing for many years. She was an active member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church for over 70 years where she was the President of the choir and a Sunday School teacher. She also enjoyed volunteering as a foster grandparent with the Council on Aging.

She leaves to mourn her passing a son, Henry (Leila) Witherspoon; daughters, Shirley (David) Lymon and Lois Turnbow; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by two sons, Jimmie (Janice) Witherspoon and Robert Witherspoon; two daughters, Virginia Witherspoon and Alice (Joseph) Threatt; granddaughter, Marietta Bryant; and brother, Waymon White.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m.on Thursday, May 13, 2021 in Restoration Christian Community Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend David Nichols will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron. Pallbearers will be David Williams, Shane Johnson, Henry Witherspoon Jr., Steven Witherspoon, Vaughn Hicks Jr., and Malcolm Kennedy. Honorary pallbearers will be Norman Davis, David Lymon, Derrick Witherspoon and Brandon Witherspoon.
