Obituary

Gerald Lynn Campbell Jr., 76, of Marysville, died Tuesday, June 1, 2021.

He was born October 7, 1944 in Port Huron to the late Gerald and Mildred Campbell.

Jerry was a Power Plant Engineer who began his career with Detroit Edison, before moving to Florida to work for Florida Power & Light. Upon retirement from Florida Power & Light, he formed EN Generations Operating Services and traveled the world building power plants in many dangerous situations. He loved to cook, had a big heart, big voice, big stories and lived life big on his own terms. Recently, he enjoyed restoring his 1941 Fat Fender Ford.

He is survived by his beloved companion, Janice Hurley McDonald; four children, G. Lynn (Denise) Campbell III, G. Scott (Kimberly) Campbell, Jeneen Hicks and Gregory (Ornella) Campbell; two step daughters, Melissa (Chris) Giambelluca and Valorie (Brian) Holt; 16 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; four of Janice’s grandchildren on the west coast who affectionately called him, “Jerry Bird”; foster daughter from Kenya, Africa, Susan “Suzzy” (Dan) Thiongo and their three children; two siblings, Jim (Lucy) Campbell and Louise (Elliott) Graham; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2021 in Riverlawn Cemetery. The Reverend David Vickers officiated.
