Thomas Diaz Jr.
Thomas Diaz Jr., 75, of Imlay City, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 19, 2021 after a short battle with cancer.
He was born January 20, 1946 in Fairmont, Minnesota to the late Florencia and Thomas Diaz Sr. He was the sixth born of twelve children. He was married to his wife Vicky Evans for 37 years before her early passing in 2010.
Tom’s life was dedicated to working hard and raising a close and happy family with his wife. They previously resided in Deckerville, Michigan. Tom’s favorite place to be was on the land he still owned in Deckerville where the family enjoyed planting trees and camping. He loved spending time with his granddaughter, Vanessa and taking walks to the train station. Tom loved watching classic westerns, NCIS, CSI, boxing, and listening to music. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and enjoying life.
He is survived by his children, Angela (Stewart) Duncan, Janice (Joe) Kubacki, and Thomas (Angela) Diaz; one granddaughter, Vanessa Karges and one grandson, Devin Duncan; siblings, Armando (Delores) Diaz, Rita Diaz, Ricardo Diaz, Manuel (Cheryl) Diaz, Augustine Diaz, Florencia Penny (Quentin) Walters and Luiz (Maria) Diaz; and many many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vicky; his parents, Thomas and Florencia Diaz; his, father and mother-in-law, Robert and Iva Evans; sisters, Viviana Diaz, Fidelia “Toni” Diaz and Carmen Hernandez; sisters-in-law, Sandy Evans, Ruby Diaz and Robin Diaz; brothers-in-law, Robert Evans, Rich Villareal and his “like a son”, Gary Karges.
It was Toms wishes to forgo a traditional funeral service. Instead a Celebration of Life is being planned for a date in the near future to be held on his property in Deckerville.
