Esther Merceda Grabbitt, 79, of Fort Gratiot, died Sunday, November 7, 2021.
She was born June 21, 1942 in Port Huron to the late Albert and Merceda Holmes. She married Steven A. Grabbitt on December 30, 1961 in Port Huron. He died February 26, 2020.
Esther graduated from Port Huron High School and attended St. Clair County Community College. She was a member of First Presbyterian church where she served as an Elder, Deacon and Wedding Hostess. She was involved with the Martha’s Circle, “Sew What” group, the national organization of Mothers of Twins Club and was a group speaker for the “I Can Cope” cancer survivors’ group. Esther was an accomplished seamstress and bookkeeper.
She is survived by her daughters, Lorinda Grabbitt (fiancé Gem Dodd), Bethany (James) Shoffner and Stephanie (Scott) Geiser; sons, Michael (Arlene). Mark, William (Melissa Barlow) Grabbitt; granddaughters, Candice (Andrew) Biscardi, Melissa Geiser, Megan Geiser (fiancé Chris Chrzanowski) and Sarah Shoffner; grandsons, Nathan Shoffner, Steven, Austin, Hunter and Nathaniel Grabbitt; great grandchildren, Serena and Bryson Biscardi; brothers, Clayton (Parvin) and Dennis Holmes; sister-in-law, Gwen Holmes; brother-in-law, Gary Williams; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Leroy and Dale Holmes; mother-in-law, Virginia Grabbitt; and sister-in-law, Patricia Williams.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 in First Presbyterian Church. The Reverend Dr. Roxie A. Davis will officiate.
Burial will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
