Dolores Mae Kelley

July 18th, 1930 to February 25th, 2022

Dolores Mae Kelley, 91, of Port Huron, passed away Friday, February 25, 2022 with family at her side.

She was born July 18, 1930 in Detroit to the late Clarence and Frances Chamberlain. She married Darrell Hiram Kelley on September 13, 1952 in Pontiac. He preceded her in death on October 23, 2003 after 51 years of marriage.

Dolores lived briefly in Malverne, Iowa, then was raised in Pontiac, Michigan and graduated from Pontiac High School. After their marriage, she and Darrell lived in Commerce Township, returned to Pontiac in 1954 and moved to Clawson in 1965. They relocated to Phoenix, Arizona in 1985 following Darrell’s retirement. In 2000, they returned to Michigan, living in Oxford. Most recently, she was living in Fort Gratiot near her eldest daughter.

Dolores worked as a telephone operator and later became a bookkeeper at Community National Bank in Pontiac. She worked at multiple companies throughout her life doing bookkeeping, secretarial work, small factory work and as a cashier. A lifelong Episcopalian, she was active in her church, serving on the altar guild wherever she was living.

She is survived by her children, Maureen (Zyg Jr.) Porada, Jane (Steve Bolton) Kelley and Jim (Corinne) Kelley; sister, Carol Messner; grandchildren, Sara (Tim) O’Brien, Zyg (Maria) Porada III, Meghann Porada, Alyssa Porada, Laurel (Craig) Jeffries, Sabrina Bolton, Alexi Bolton (Sean Tom), Jacob Bolton, Jessica (Dave) Hamel and Andrea (Andrew) Milligan; 16 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings and their spouses, Shirley Manns, Frances (Douglas) Godwin and Edwin (Alba) Chamberlain; great granddaughter, Arwyn Rose O’Brien; and brother-in-law, Chuck Messner.

Dolores was loved by family and friends and will be missed. Thank you to Residential Hospice, the staff at Atria Blue Water Lodge and Kristina’s Homecare for their support of Dolores and our family during her final days.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 29, 2022 at All Saints Episcopal Church in Pontiac, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.

A private interment will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
