Lewis D. Cowan, 90, of Port Huron Township, died Saturday, March 12, 2022.
He was born July 21, 1931 in Smiths Creek to the late Frederick and Bernice Cowan. He married Sarah Ruth Miller on May 23, 1953 in the Capac United Methodist Church. She died February 17, 2015.
Lewis was employed with Mueller Brass for 43 years prior to his retirement. He came to the know the Lord as his Savior as a teenager and his life was completely changed. He served the Lord for the rest of his life. Lewis was a member of Ross Bible Church for over 50 years and sang in their choir for most of those years. He led the Whirlybirds Kids Bible program for 22 years. Lewis and his wife Ruth loved traveling and camping. They traveled to 49 states, Bali and Australia. He enjoyed gardening, lawncare and working outside.
He is survived by five children, Jean (Glen) Olson, Carolyn (Dennis) Ross, Fred Cowan, Gail (Michael) Nye and Roger (Lisa) Cowan; 13 grandchildren, Chris Olson, Chad (Kimberly) Olson, Clay (Colette) Olson, Carie (Julian) Altvater, Tim (Julia) Ross, Jimmy (Kimberlee) Sharrard, Jenny (Stephen) Layland, Victoria (Joe) Wilson, David (Emily) Cowan, Anna (Michael) Jansz, Elisabeth (Luke) Martin, Rebecca Cowan and Daniel Cowan; 19 great grandchildren, Scout and Jersie Wicker-Olson, Reagen, Caden, Violet, Lily and Candiss Olson, Julian Altvater, Lincoln, Greyson, Callan and Gibson Ross, Evelyn Sharrard, Isla, Theodore, Aubrey and Elodie Wilson, Charlotte Cowan and Mikaiah Jansz; siblings, Margaret Morden, Bill Cowan and Carol Cheek; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Tyler Ross; and granddaughter, Kendra Ross.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2022 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 18, 2022 in Ross Bible Church with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Reverend Tim Clark and the Reverend Steve Scott will officiate.
Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Port Huron Township. Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
