Neil Edgar Chartrand, 91, of Marysville, died Wednesday, August 3, 2022.
He was born July 27, 1931 in Detroit to the late Edgar and Mildred Chartrand. He married Sharon E. Barr on August 18, 1951 at Peace Lutheran Church in Detroit.
Neil graduated from Oxford High School in 1949. He was a developer and was known for building many of the riverfront condominiums in Marysville and other local communities. After retirement, Neil and Sharon became snowbirds and then full-time Ft. Myers residents before returning to the Blue Water Area recently. Neil had a great sense of humor and enjoyed fishing and combined these interests into his infamous painted wood fishing cartoons. He also enjoyed golfing and swimming. He was a lifelong Lutheran who most recently attended Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Marysville.
Neil is survived by his wife of 71 years, Sharon; two children, Jeffrey Chartrand (Karen Streeter) and Cynthia Chartrand; daughter-in-law, Teresa Chartrand; grandchildren, Shawn (Mary) Fabian, Tera (Tom) Wenzlick, Neil (Leslie) Chartrand, Elizabeth Chartrand, Jonathan Chimner (Gabrielle Benjamin) and Evan Cochrun; great grandchildren, Damian Chartrand, Cassandra, Bryant and Gabrielle Fabian, Emily, Jacob, Nathan, Phillip, and Mason Wenzlick, Allison and Ryan Chartrand, and Charlie Chimner; several great great grandchildren; brother, Douglas (Virginia) Chartrand; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Gary Neil Chartrand.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 in Pilgrim Lutheran Church with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Reverend Michael Opfermann will officiate.
Inurnment will be in the Hillside Cemetery Columbarium, St. Clair.
