Barbara Lou Haggerty, 87, long-time resident of Marysville, died Friday, August 5, 2022.
She was born July 6, 1935 in Port Huron. She married Lawrence D. Haggerty on September 3, 1955 in Port Huron. He preceded her in death on April 26, 2006 after 50 years of marriage.
In her younger years, Barbara worked on the birthing floor at Port Huron Hospital and later in an OBGYN practice. Most importantly, she enjoyed taking care of her family and supporting her children and grandchildren in their activities. Barbara was a great baker and cook, and will be remembered for her famous coffee cakes and homemade candy trays. She enjoyed bowling and was proud of her many 600 Series. She was also a talented golfer and had won several championships at the Elks Lodge.
She is survived by two sons, Lawrence “Larry” (Robin) Haggerty and Brian (Susan) Haggerty; daughter, Teri (Jason) Billins; grandchildren, Aaron (Krystal) Haggerty, Jamie (J.R.) Green, Kacey (Brett) Vanderpool, Ryan Teeple, Blake (Alyssa) Teeple, Evan Haggerty (Gianna Cricco-Lizza), Lauren Haggerty, Kristin (Orrin) Neitzke, Chad (Samantha) Billins, Tyler Billins and Dylan Billins (fiancée Nicole Navarro); great grandchildren, Avery, Korbin, Jediah, Dexter, Gracelyn, Nicolo, Allegra, Adelaide, Beckett, Baker and one great grandson on the way; half-sisters, Carol (Jerry) Blais and Joan McNeil; half-brother, James (Karen) Kearney; sister-in-law, Virginia Kearney; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Kearney; mother, Edith (Arwood) Kresin; brother, Robert Kearney; and half-sister, Beverly Polly.
Visitation will be held from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. NEXT Sunday, August 14, 2022 in the Marysville Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. NEXT Monday, August 15, 2022 in the Marysville Funeral Home. Dr. Joseph Baunoch will officiate. Friends may view the service livestream by visiting Barbara’s obituary page on the funeral home website.
Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville. Barbara’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
