If we could write a story, it would be the greatest story ever told. Of a kind and loving Dad, who had a heart of gold. We could write a million pages, yet still be unable to say, just how much we love you and will miss you, each and every day.
We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our Dad, Dale William Silk Sr. of Port Huron. Dad was a fighter, he fought a long, hard battle against COPD, but he fought until the very end. Dad passed peacefully, at the age of only 69, with us kids by his side. What we would not do for more time.
Dad was born on July 28, 1953, to the late Miles and Katherine Silk. He attended Marysville schools, but left his senior year to join the United States Army. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he was employed at Riverside Tank for 27 years before retiring. But, Dad could not sit still. He went on to be a semi-truck driver for Faurecia. He worked so hard his whole life. He provided for us kids and was the best dad he ever could have been.
Dad enjoyed bowling and spent many nights bowling in leagues. He also loved taking us kids bowling to share in his favorite pastime with him. He shared all his tips and tricks with us. In his later years, Dad was homebound and loved a good television show in his comfy chair. He will be missed every single day, and our lives will forever be changed. Dad was our hero. He was there for us no matter what. He had us and we had him.
He is survived by his three kids who adored him, Kristina Silk (Shawn Bates), Melissa (Stephon) LaPrairie, and Dale Silk Jr.; his loving grandkids, Dale Silk III, Melia and Maylee Miller, Brennan and Bradley Bates, and Alana LaPrairie. We were his whole world, and he was ours. He is also survived by his three sisters, Karen (Jerry) Stuthers, Jean Gagnon, and Barbara (Hershell) Mixon; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There is no expiration date on the love between a father and his kids. Dad, you left us beautiful memories. Your love is still our guide, and though we cannot see you, you will always be right by our sides. We will love you always, Dad.
