William John (Bill) Williams, age 90, left us to join our Father in Heaven on December 29, 2011.
Born March 7, 1921 in Calumet, Michigan, to William J. and Birdella Williams, he and his family moved to Port Huron when Bill was a young child. While attending Port Huron High School, he met Lillian Bailey and they were married on February 6, 1942. Shortly thereafter Bill enlisted in the Navy as a Seabee and served in both the Atlantic and Pacific theatres during WWII. Following the war, Bill was employed by the Grand Trunk Railroad, as well as spending evenings and weekends building more than twenty houses in the Port Huron area. In 1958, he moved his family to Battle Creek, Michigan, where he continued to work for the Grand Trunk inspecting bridges and buildings from Port Huron to Chicago. In 1981, Bill and Lillian retired to Sun City Center, Florida.
In his passing, he joins his parents, William J. and Birdella Williams, and his first wife, Lillian Pearl (Bailey) Williams. Bill left behind his daughter, Kay Lynn Sawdey; two granddaughters, Lisa Watanabe and Lori Silvestri; three great grandchildren, Maya, Tyler and Michael James; and an estranged wife, Marilyn Clark.
Memorial services for Bill will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2012 at the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Lakeside Cemetery following the service.
