Lawrence "Larry" Holdman

Lawrence “Larry” Holdman, 68, of Port Huron, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 20, 2023.

He was born December 10, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois to the late John Major and Mary Maxine Holdman. He was the eldest of five children.

Larry attended John Hay Elementary School in Chicago. At the age of 12, he went to live with his grandparents, “Mama” Susie and “Daddy” Frank Wilson in Port Huron, Michigan. He was very inquisitive and enjoyed learning. He attended St. Joseph Middle School and graduated from Port Huron Central High School.

He played baseball and enjoyed watching ice hockey and wrestling. He was an avid reader and self-learned historian. He had a sharp memory and enjoyed sharing historical knowledge with friends and family. Lawrence was a dedicated employee at Detroit Edison for over 30 years where he was promoted up the ranks from shoveling coal to working in the Transportation and Storage Department. He was a faithful member and ordained deacon of Metropolitan Baptist Church. Lawrence adored his family and loved attending the annual family reunions. He will be remembered for his generosity, singing and his love for and of the Lord.

Lawrence leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Juanita (Harold) King; brother, Phillip Holdman; nieces, Yolanda (Henry), Dana (Romell) and Veida; great nephews, Marcus (Antinique) and Jeremy; four great-great nephews and five great-great nieces; and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John Jr. and Douglas Holdman; his grandmother, Annie Pillow; aunt, Frances Louise Fowler.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, December 2, 2023 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Tony Lindsey will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron.
