Dorothy J Shafran

Dorothy Jean Shafran, 92, of Marysville, died Tuesday, November 28, 2023.

She was born February 8, 1931 in St. Clair to the late Michael and Vera Blanchard. She married Bernard F. Shafran on July 9, 1949 in St. Clair. He preceded her in death on August 15, 2006.

Dorothy enjoyed crocheting, baking and shopping. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and praying for her family. She was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church and the Rosary Altar Society.

She is survived by ten children, Lynn (Jack) Hall, Bernard (Brenda) Shafran Jr., Susan Mason (Rex Boswell), Catherine (Gerald) Brown, Mary (Bruce) Simmons, John Shafran, Thomas Shafran, Amy Beesley, Robert (Rebeccah) Shafran and Carol Shafran; 22 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister, Bette Dandron; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, James Beesley Jr.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Monday, December 4, 2023 in the Marysville Funeral Home.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 in St. Christopher Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Reverend James Arwady will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, St. Clair. Pallbearers will be Steve Kania, Matthew and Nathan Simmons, Jason Shafran, Thomas Shafran, Cody Shafran and Robert Shafran Jr.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Christopher Catholic Church.
