Obituary

Charles Ronald Harneck, 81, of Fort Gratiot, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Regency on the Lake, where he had resided for the last 3 months.

He was born June 15, 1943 in Port Huron to the late William H. and Althea E. Harneck and graduated from Yale High School. Chuck met Jacqueline Rivers and proposed to her over the phone while he was stationed in Germany during his time in the U.S. Army. They were married on May 11, 1968 at United Missionary Church, just nine days after his honorable discharge.

Chuck worked for CSX Railroad for 38 years prior to his retirement in 2003. The most important things in his life were his family and his church. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and also enjoyed being an uncle. He played in the church softball league for many years and also liked relaxing in front of the television.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jacqueline; daughter, Shawna (Clifford) Black; grandsons, Cody, Shane and Jason; sister, Carol Harneck; sisters-in-law, Ruth Harneck and Judith (Jack) Spring; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; and brother, James W. Harneck.

Visitation will be Friday, August 9 from 4-7 p.m. in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend Thad Spring, Chuck’s nephew, will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army.

Private inurnment will take place at the Sunset Memorial Gardens Columbarium, Fort Gratiot.
