Obituary

George B. Tunningly, 82, of Port Huron, died Saturday, April 7, 2012.

He was born November 19, 1929 in Richmond, Michigan to the late Glenn and Katherine Tunningly. He married Ellen Gilbert in March of 1951. She died in July of 1981. He married R. Jean Allen on May 24, 1986 in Port Huron. She died December 6, 2011.

Mr. Tunningly was a member of the Port Huron High School Class of 1947. He retired from Detroit Edison Company in 1991 after 39 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard, was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Charles Hammond American Legion Post #8, the AARP, Senior Citizen Bowling League and the American Red Cross Clowns.

He is survived by three children, James (Linda) Tunningly, George (Sue) Tunningly Jr. and Cindy Manchester; seven step children, John Allen, Jeffrey (Cheryl) Allen, Joseph (Karen) Allen, Jayne Fowler, James (Chris) Allen, Jeri (Steve) Soltis and Janet (Larry) Herriman; 23 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2012 in First Presbyterian Church. The Reverend Jason Pittman will officiate.

Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Lakeside Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or the United Way of St. Clair County.
