William Evans

William Elliott Evans Jr., 89, of Ruby, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 in Port Huron Hospital.
He was born February 23, 1923 in Port Huron to the late Grace and William Evans Sr. He married Ila Mae Gardner on May 22, 1948 in Port Huron. She died December 23, 2011.
Mr. Evans was a serviceman with Detroit Edison for 38 years, retiring in 1986. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific. He was a member of the Smiths Creek Lodge #491 F. & A.M. and the American Legion. He enjoyed carpentry and cabinetry and working around the house.
He is survived by three children, William (Mary) Evans, Joanne (Scott) McInnis and Jane Evans; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Patricia) Evans; a sister, Nancy (Len) Jones; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Rossow.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, April 13, 2012 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Donald Doerzbacher will officiate.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council. Pallbearers will be Scott McInnis, Tim Evans, Steve Christy, Nate McInnis, Shane Williams and Tim Cove.
Memorials may be made to the Smiths Creek Lodge #491 F. & A.M.
