Sylvia J Fry
Sylvia Jean Fry, 79, of Fort Gratiot, passed into eternity on Thursday, July 3, 2025.
Born March 11, 1946 in Smiths Creek, Michigan, to the late Mervin and Charlotte Babcock, she graduated from Port Huron High School followed shortly thereafter by her marriage to Dwight Fry on December 19, 1964.
For the majority of her career, Sylvia was employed as a secretary for the Port Huron Area School District, and during her 46 years there she served in many different facilities-both in schools and in the administration building-prior to her retirement in December 2020. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. Sylvia was a woman of faith who loved reading the Bible, listening to gospel music, and singing in her church choir and with family.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Fry; son, David (Christine) Fry; two grandchildren, Andrew and Charlotte Fry; brother-in-law, Thomas Harrington; niece, Ann Harrington; nephew, Thomas (Kristy) Harrington, Jr; and great nephew, Jackson Harrington. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mervin and Charlotte Babcock; and her sister, Linda Harrington.
A memorial service will be held on August 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Colonial Woods Missionary Church. Sylvia’s niece, Pastor Ann Harrington, will officiate.
