Dennis L "Short" Thick Sr.

Dennis L. “Short” Thick Sr., 77, of Port Huron Township, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 5, 2025.

He was born June 19, 1948 in Port Huron to the late Lawrence and Yvonne Thick. He married Carol Joan Hurd on December 24, 1969 in Toledo, Ohio. She preceded him in death on June 14, 2015.

Dennis honorably served in the U.S. Army. He was employed with Morton Salt for 11 years and General Motors for 26 years. He was member of Pipefitters Local 636. Dennis enjoyed camping, cookouts, socializing, volunteering in the community and church, and watching his grandchildren play sports. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Port Huron Moose Lodge #158 and Port Huron Lodge #58 F. & A.M.

Dennis is survived by four children, Nancy (Chad) Desero, Dennis (Kelli) Thick, Ruth Thick and Daniel (Carrie) Thick; grandchildren, Nichole (Evan) King, Hailey Thick, Luke Thick, Andrea Werner, Andrew Thick, Alyssa Thick, Jordan Thick, Kierstyn (Steven) Darhower, Lexie (Ben) Kenny, Ethan Simpson, Cody Desero and Caitlyn Desero; great grandchildren, Noah Darhower, Rory Darhower, Sage Kenny and Everett King; brothers, Ronald (Cathy) Thick and Brian (Renee) Thick; brother-in-law, Bruce (Barb) Hurd; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kristina.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025 in the Marysville Funeral Home, 1200 Michigan Ave., Marysville, MI 48040.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025 in the Marysville Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Bud Freed will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.

Inurnment will be in the Allied Veterans Columbarium, Port Huron.
