Wayne Erickson
Wayne Ethan Allen Erickson, 94, of Marysville, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012.
He was born April 8, 1918 in Perkins, South Dakota to the late Carl and Bertha Erickson. He married Ruth Marie Leonard on May 8, 1943 in Omaha, Nebraska. She died October 22, 2011.
Wayne graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and worked for several firms including Sterling Associates. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Port Huron and a former member of Cherry Hill Baptist Church in Dearborn Heights. Wayne was an avid HAM radio operator and teacher, published papers on Modern Theology, and was briefly the local chairperson for the Association for Research and Enlightenment and the Michigan chairperson of the Mutual UFO Network.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary (Noel) Bedy of St. Clair; granddaughter, Nicole Bedy of St. Clair; grandson, Michael (Michelle) Bedy of New Hampshire; great grandchildren, Isabelle Ruth and Owen James Bedy; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wade Erickson.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Monday in the Marysville Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 in the Marysville Funeral Home. The Reverend Daniel S. Bakay of First Baptist Church will officiate.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church.
