Richard Thomas Wakeham, 85, of Fort Gratiot went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 4, 2012 after a long illness.
He was born June 13, 1926 in Port Huron and was a life-long area resident. He married Mildred E. Sargent on September 18, 1948 in Port Huron. Dick was preceded in death by his wife on December 16, 2010.
Mr. Wakeham was a car man with the Grand Trunk Western Railroad. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ted (Linda) Oslin of Ann Arbor and Mrs. Bill (Debbie) Wells of Port Huron; four grandchildren, Amanda, Alyson, Cory and Jessica; two sisters- in- law, Virginia Sargent of Florida and Caroline Fernandez of Fort Gratiot; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Vivian Nuske, Doris Wakeham and Joyce Cataline.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 PM Tuesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, Port Huron.
A memorial service honoring Dicks life will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Ross Bible Church. Pastor Steve Scott will officiate.
Committal will be in Allied Veterans Cemetery, Port Huron at 10 a.m. on Thursday.
