Delores J Hrisca
Delores Judy Hrisca, 93, of Marysville, passed away Monday, November 24, 2025.
She was born June 22, 1932, in Detroit and adopted by Noble and Edna Steele in Port Huron. She married Nicholas Hrisca on June 12, 1954. He preceded her in death on November 21, 2014, after 60 years of marriage.
Delores and her husband owned and operated the DeAnna Motel / Marysville Motor Inn from 1955 until they retired in 1996. Delores was also deeply involved in her community. She served as a board member of the Blue Water Area Tourism Bureau. She had an adventurous spirit and was a world traveler.
Delores possessed a Mensa-level intellect and was an accomplished organ player. She learned entirely by ear, not reading music, as she coordinated both hands and feet with ease. She entertained the local Lions Club with a great dinner and proceeded to mesmerize her guests with a non-stop barrage of music while many sang along. She excelled in the key of F-sharp, much like Irving Berlin. She also wrote and recited her own poetry and jokes for family and friends. Many were touched by her heartfelt sentiment. She was also known for her traditional Romanian cooking, preparing extraordinary meals that became treasured family favorites still cooked today. One of her most memorable family moments was her “Sock It to Me, Tigers!” poem from the Detroit Tigers’ 1968 World Series Run where she recited and joined wholeheartedly in the camaraderie and excitement of the celebration.
She is survived by two sons, Dale (Nancy) Hrisca and Steven (Susan) Hrisca; five grandchildren, Dr. Kaydee (Joshua) Zimmern, Stephanie (Dr. Logan) Kennedy, Jasen (Rachel) Hrisca, Shawn Hrisca, and Sarah (James) Krzywiecki. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren: Nicholas and Samantha Zimmern; Grayson and Maddox Kennedy; and Norah, Sophia, and Elena Krzywiecki.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, November 30, 2025, in the Marysville Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 1, 2025, in the Marysville Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m.
