Robert A Boyd

June 24, 1941 to June 29, 2026

Robert Archie Boyd, 85, of Emmett, formerly of Glennie, Michigan, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, at Mercy Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born on June 24, 1941, at the family home in Detroit, to the late Robert J. and Virginia Boyd. On September 14, 1963, Bob married his childhood sweetheart and the love of his life, Sandra, in New Baltimore. Together they shared 63 eventful years of marriage, facing joys and challenges together, raising their girls and building a lifetime of memories.

Bob worked for Consumer Power for 37 years until his retirement in 2000. While he was still working, Bob cherished spending summers “up north” in Glennie with family and friends. After retiring, he and Sandra fulfilled their lifelong dream of making Glennie their home. They enjoyed the peaceful beauty of northern Michigan and the lifestyle they had always envisioned together. Eventually, they returned to Emmett to be closer to family and friends.

An avid outdoorsman, Bob enjoyed hunting and loved spending time in nature and in the woods. His love of nature was tested, however, when he had to deconstruct daily the dam that beavers built on his property every night.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Sandra; his daughters, Jeanine Boyd and Bonnie (Ray) Porritt; his bonus son, Kenny Kaufman; his cherished grandchildren, Lucas Horton, Liliana (James) Hanson, and Angelina Boyd; brother, Eugene (Pam) Boyd; brother-in-law, David (Shelly) Asselin; sisters-in-law, Suzie (Tim) Horan, Diane Asselin, Sandra Kay Boyd and Sandy Boyd; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by brothers, Jack (Joan) Boyd, Vaughn “Michael” Boyd and Peter Boyd; sister, Bonnie Wolfbauer; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Asselin and Dean (Cindy) Asselin; and his faithful dog and constant companion, Casey.

Bob will be remembered for his quiet strength, kind heart, work ethic, and, most importantly, deep love for his family. His gentle spirit, warm smile, and the many memories he created with those he loved will be treasured forever.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Emmett with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Reverend H. Thomas Kuehnemund will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Lucas Horton, Ken Kaufman, Raymond Porritt, Shawn Boyd, Timothy Horan and Jeffrey Matthews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church.
