Joseph John Demeter, 84, of Marysville, died Sunday, August 9, 2026.

He was born February 8, 1942, in Port Huron to the late Joseph and Josephine “Pep” Demeter. He married Lynda Uthes on October 25, 1969, in Marysville United Methodist Church.

Joe enjoyed traveling and classic cars. He and Lynda shared a love of camping, which became a meaningful part of their life together. Joe never missed an opportunity to spend time with the Coffee Club. His greatest enjoyment were his grandkids.

Joe retired from Grand Trunk Railroad where he worked as a locomotive machinist. After retirement, Joe stayed busy working jobs at St. Clair Inn, Harrington Inn, and St. Clair County Council on Aging. He never liked to sit still for long.

Joe is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lynda; daughter, Jodi and fiancé Steve Payton; two grandchildren, Foster and Adela; sister Connie Demeter; and special cousin, Gloria Ward. He is also survived by former son-in-law, Josh Walls.
