Virginia I Oakley

February 10th, 1923 to September 16th, 2012

Mrs. Virginia I. Oakley, 89, of Clyde Township went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 16, 2012 in Mercy Hospital.

She was born February 10, 1923 in Port Huron. She married Arthur F. Oakley on September 19, 1942 in Bowling Green, Virginia. He died April 30, 2005.

Mrs. Oakley retired from Prestolite with 45 years of service in the Coil Division. She had also worked at J.C. Penney's and served as secretary of Wadhams Baptist Church, where she was an active member and Sunday school teacher. She hosted many Child Evangelism Fellowship events at her home and was a member of the Council on Aging. She dearly loved her flower garden and enjoyed travel, wintering in Florida and spending summers in Wyoming for several years.

She is survived by three children, Terry L. (Stephen) Fischer, Larry E. Oakley, all of Port Huron Township, and Michael (Brenda) Oakley of Jeddo; her beloved grandchildren, Kim (Tim) Hudy, Shellie Fischer, Julie Delaney, Lisa Scheunmann, Holly (Fred) Beaudry and Jason (Lori Solgot) Oakley; and six great grandchildren, Austin Delaney, Whitney Hudy, Nathan, Nicole and Adam Beaudry and Koda Oakley.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, September 29, 2012 in Wadhams Baptist Church, 5461 Lapeer Road. Pastor Richard J. Reinhart will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wadhams Baptist or Child Evangelism Fellowship.
