John Durcan
John Edward Durcan, 72, of St. Clair Township, died Thursday, October 25, 2012.
He was born January 11, 1940 in Port Huron to the late Fred and Helen Durcan. He married Martha Printz on October 1, 1966 in Capac.
Mr. Durcan was a planning manager with Eugene Welding for 40 years, retiring in 1998. He was a lifelong member of St. Christopher Catholic Church and a 3rd degree Knight with Knights of Columbus Marysville Council #9526. He was a 48-year member of Moose Lodge #158. He enjoyed gardening and the Detroit Tigers and made excellent soup and chili.
He is survived by his wife, Martha; two daughters, Mary (Chuck) Gilbert of Marysville and Louise Durcan-Marsh of St. Clair Township; two sons, Joseph Frederick Durcan and John Paul (Brenda Vossen) Durcan, all of Port Huron; four grandchildren, John Marsh, Christopher Gilbert, Cody Gilbert and Danielle Vossen; a brother, Robert L. Durcan of St. Clair Township; a sister-in-law, Betty M. Durcan of Marysville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred in 2008 and infant, Joey in 1938; and a son-in-law, James Marsh in 1997.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Marysville Funeral Home.
Mr. Durcan will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 in St. Christopher Catholic Church. The Reverend Arthur Baranowski will officiate.
Inurnment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Christopher Catholic Church.
