Robert Joseph "Bob" Henderson, 74, of Fort Gratiot, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 28, 2012.
He was born August 23, 1938 in Detroit to the late Albert and Janie Henderson. He married Darlene Sparling in 1957 in Port Huron.
Mr. Henderson was employed with Kroger for 30 years, retiring in 2000. He served in the U.S. Army and the National Guard Reserves. He loved dogs, baseball, carpentry, old cars, camping, country music and wrestling. He loved the church and taught high school Sunday School classes for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Darlene; two daughters, Bobbi-Jean (Daniel) Stokan and Karen (Richard) Schmidt; three grandchildren, Carrie (Isaac) Hoot, Robert (Betsy) Stokan and Kasia (Andre's) Meza; two great grandchildren, Haley and Isaac Stokan; his stepmother, Elizabeth Henderson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Marvin, William, Albert and Don Henderson; and a sister, Doris Rose.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2013 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend Woodrow Nelson and the Reverend Stan Leichty will officiate.
Burial will be in Caswell Cemetery, Kimball Township. Pallbearers will be Ken Mitchell, Dale Taylor, Scott Henderson, Albert Henderson Jr., Robert Stokan, Robert Schmidt, Carrie Hoot, and Kasia Meza. Honorary pallbearers will be Haley and Isaac Stokan. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.
Memorial contributions may be made to Colonial Woods Missionary Church, Columbus Bible Church, Blue Water Hospice House or Lighthouse Baptist Church.
