Elwyn A Gerstenberger

April 13th, 1930 to January 5th, 2013

Mr. Elwyn "Al" Gerstenberger, 82, of Kimball Township, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Blue Water Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 13, 1930 in Sandusky to the late Arnold and Marion Gerstenberger. He married Regina "Jean" Gerstenberger on July 3, 1948 in Marysville. Al was a constable and volunteer fireman for Kimball Township. He was also the Michigan Manager for Combined Insurance Company. He later became a Sheriff's Deputy and started the K-9 Unit for St. Clair County, retiring in 1990. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean; three daughters, Linda (Dwight) Quant, Bonnie (Richard) Sturdevant, and Diana Phillips; a son, Steve (Kristee) Gerstenberger; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; a brother, Clayton Gerstenberger; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Mark Phillips; two brothers, Russel and Walter; and a sister-in-law, Jean. Visitation will be from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fort Gratiot. Pallbearers will be Al's grandsons. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Blue Water Hospice House.
