Jack L Burgess

Jack Lee Burgess, 90, of Fort Gratiot, died Tuesday, April 11, 2013.

He was born June 7, 1922 in Port Huron to the late John and Daisy Burgess. He married Phyllis R. Holth on August 17, 1945 in Ogden, Utah. She died April 18, 2009.

Jack was employed with Grand Trunk Western Railroad prior to his retirement. He was a Sergeant with the U.S. Army 79th Infantry Division during World War II and received a Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his son, Patrick; and two grandsons, Edward and Timothy.

Committal services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2013 in the Lakeside Cemetery Chapel. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.
