Obituary

Marlene J. Young, 82, of Port Huron Township, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013.

She was born February 13, 1931 in Port Huron to the late Gordon and Marie Cruickshank. She married C. Clark Young on August 16, 1952 in Port Huron. He died November 5, 2009.

Mrs. Young worked in the office at Mueller Brass and later was a lunch supervisor with the Port Huron Area School District for 27 years, retiring in 2007. She was known as "The Cookie Lady" and "Grandma" to the kids at Chippewa Middle School. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, past president of the Vivians at B.P.O.E. Lodge #343 and a volunteer at Mercy Hospital. She enjoyed golfing, crossword puzzles, reading and watching old movies.

She is survived by two daughters, Diane Young and Debra Thomson, both of Port Huron; a son, David (Luck) Young of Thailand; five grandchildren, Eric (Kelly) Lemanski, Gordon, Christopher, Dan and Kelly Thomson; two sisters, Twila Budinger of Port Huron and Judy (Robert) Acheson Swain of East China; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Cruickshank of Marysville; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Katie. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Cruickshank.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, May 3, 2013 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend Jason Pittman of First Presbyterian Church will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Water Area Humane Society.
