Martin J Dobring
Martin J. Dobring, 87, died on May 29, 2013. He was born April 28, 1926 in Port Huron, the son of John and Helen (Hentschel) Dobring.
Martin served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Wasatch and USS Blue Ridge during World War II. After receiving his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, he spent most of his life working for Prestolite Wire in Port Huron.
On November 29, 1952 he married Lorraine P. Wahl of Avoca in Emanuel Lutheran Church of Greenwood Twp. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served on various boards and committees. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and researching his family history. He compiled a Lower-Wendish/English dictionary.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years of marriage, Lorraine; his children, Walter (Barbara) of Scottsville, KY, Norman (Susan) of Rockledge, FL, Raymond (Jennifer) of Walled Lake, MI and Lois (Eric) Stevens of Ruby, MI; daughter-in-law, Linda Dobring of Lake Orion, MI; ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Willard; sister, Dorothy (Tiny) Renaker and son, Eldon Dobring.
Visiting will be 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 p.m. Sunday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Monday, June 3, 2013 in Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Stephen Schilke will officiate. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery.
