Lawrence M Taylor
Lawrence M. "Larry" Taylor, 85, of Marysville, died Monday, June 24, 2013.
He was born May 12, 1928 in Marine City to the late Guy and Verne Taylor. He married Audrey Umland on December 31, 1955 in Chicago.
Larry graduated from Marine City High School, earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University and was employed with Detroit Edison Company for 32 years prior to his retirement. He served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War as a Senior Grade Engineering Officer. Mr. Taylor was a Licensed Professional Engineer, Eagle Scout, longtime member of the Marysville Rotary Club and Marysville American Legion Post #449, was past President of the Marine City Little League and active in the Pride and Heritage Museum in Marine City, sang with the Schubert Men's Choir for many years, and enjoyed playing cards. He was a long time member of Marysville United Methodist Church where he sang in the Church Choir.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Audrey; three sons, Guy Taylor, David (Ann) Taylor and Matthew (Michele) Taylor; four grandchildren, Zachary, Lauren, Mitchell and Madison Taylor; and several nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ruth Benson, and brother, Sydney Taylor.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. on Thursday in the Marysville Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 28, 2013 in the Marysville Funeral Home. The Reverend Barbara Welbaum of Marysville United Methodist Church will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.
Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Marine City.
