Dorothy Feick
Dorothy Ann Feick, 82, of Port Huron, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 after a long illness.
She was born March 23, 1931 in Deckerville to the late Hazen and Beatrice Amey. She married Gerald Feick on March 11, 1951 in Port Huron. He died January 30, 2010.
Mrs. Feick worked for the Port Huron Area School District until her retirement in 1997. During that time she was a teacher at Thomas Edison and Michigamme Elementary Schools and a Principal at the Crull-McKinley campus and Keewahdin Elementary School. She received the State of Michigan “Teacher of the Year” and “Outstanding Career Educator” awards. Mrs. Feick loved to take her classes on the end of the year trip to Washington D.C. so the students could “see history” and also enjoyed planning 5th grade graduation celebrations. She was an advocate for parent involvement, and continued to work with the PHASD on projects even after her retirement. Dorothy was a longtime member of Griswold Street Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald (Dee Ann) Feick of Northville and David (Lori) Feick of Tennessee; four grandchildren, Ashley, Karyn, Rebecca and Aaron Feick; a brother-in-law, Gaylord (Donna) Feick of Marysville; and a sister-in-law, Arlene (Carlyle) Hager of Marlette.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Hazen “Bud” Amey; and a sister, Betty Allen.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2013 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Dr. Timothy North will officiate.
Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 18 in Downing Cemetery, Deckerville.
