Francis “Lloyd” Wellman, 84, lifelong resident of Ruby, went home to the Lord Sunday, September 14, 2014 at home with his family by his side..

He was born January 19, 1930 in Greenwood Township to the late Wilbert and Tressa Wellman. He married Charlene G. Logan on April 26, 1958 in Port Huron and they shared 56 years together. She preceded him in death on July 14, 2014.

Lloyd retired from Muellar Brass Corp. in 1992 after 39 years of service following his return from the U.S. Army in 1953. He was an avid sports fan that umpired with the Yale School District and played baseball for many years with the Dorsey House team. He also enjoyed golf, hunting and bowling. Lloyd will be remembered as a loving, caring and compassionate family man and will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Tammy (Bill) Nelms; son, Gerald Lloyd Wellman (Pam Root); grandchildren, Chris, Nick and Zach; sister, Marilyn Ellis; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Gerald Bruce Wellman.

Graveside memorial services will take place at 1 pm on Friday, September 19, 2014 in Ruby Cemetery. Reverend Lisa Clark will officiate. Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the Veterans Honor Guard Alliance.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
