Carl Poor

January 14th, 1937 to June 30th, 2012
Carl Ray Poor, 75, of Port Huron, died Saturday, June 30, 2012 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.

He was born January 14, 1937 in Detroit to the late Herman and Elizabeth Poor. He married Mary Ann Stanlake on December 9, 1961 in Our Saviour Lutheran Church.

Carl graduated from high school in Lapeer in 1957 and then enlisted in the U.S. Marines before being medically discharged. He owned and operated Don's Upholstery in the Port Huron area for many years before his retirement in 1995. Carl loved spending time outdoors, especially gardening, fishing and camping. He never let Parkinson's get in the way of what he wanted to do.

Carl is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary; three children, Robert Poor of Detroit, Randy (Tammy) Poor of Port Huron, and Jennifer (Daniel) Anderson of Avoca; nine grandchildren, Harvey, Julia, Tyler, Sarah, Samantha, Daniel, Andrew, Matthew and Ethan; sisters, Mary Ellen (Glenn) Greene of Las Vegas and Beverly Kulman of Richmond; brother, Ralph (Doris) Poor of Caro; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jule Doane; brother-in-law, Robert Kulman; and his beloved canine companion, Lexus.

Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Monday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Joel Caminiti of Hunters Creek Community Church of Lapeer will officiate.
