Casimir T Osentoski
Casimir Thomas Osentoski, 90, of Marysville died Tuesday, November 12, 2013 in his home after a long illness.
He was born March 30, 1923 in Austin Township, Sanilac County, to the late Paul & Angeline (Oparka) Osentoski. He married Mary Kaczanowski on September 9, 1950. She died August 9, 1989.
Mr. Osentoski was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving in Africa/Italy with the 488th Port Battalion. He was a 66 year, Life Member and a past Post Commander of American Legion Marysville Post #449.
He worked for the City of Marysville for many years and retired from Detroit Edison in 1988. He was a Marysville volunteer fireman for 37 years. He was a Marysville High School Class of 1942 Class President, an expert mechanic, loved travel to Alaska and Poland, dancing to polka music, and was the proud owner of a 1915 Ford Model T. He belonged to St. Christopher Catholic Parish in Marysville.
He is survived by four sons, Paul, Thomas (Monica), Anthony and Joseph Osentoski, all of Marysville; a granddaughter, Marianna; two brothers, Ernest (Genevieve) Osentoski and Irvin Osentoski, both of Marysville; two sisters, Virginia Ren of Wales Township and June (Robert) Ward of Marysville; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Osentoski in 2007.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Friday in Marysville Funeral Home, 1200 Michigan Avenue.
Mr. Osentoski will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2013 in St. Christopher Catholic Church. The Rev. Arthur Baranowski will officiate.
Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville. Graveside military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army.
