William W Queen

William Warren Queen, 85, of St. Clair Shores and Grosse Pointe passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013.

He was born March 13, 1928 in Detroit to the late Gerald and Lucille Queen.

Bill was a life-long resident of the Grosse Pointe area. He served in the Korean War as a Sargent and came home from the war to marry the love of his life in 1955, Madge P. Winter. She preceded him in death on April 18, 2013.

As a young man, William was employed with the family business, Queen Cleaners. He later owned and operated Queen Real Estate. He loved serving in his church, Grosse Pointe Memorial Church, for over fifty years. Bill enjoyed tennis, golf, biking and ski trips with his family.

He is survived by his children, Karen Queen, Kristin Q. (William) Crackel and William (Kate) Queen Jr.; six grandchildren, Matthew (Nanette) Pfeiffer, Brian Pfeiffer, Klark Weishaupt, Clayton Queen, Lucy Queen and Tamanna Queen; sister, Mary Ann Pear; brother, Douglas (Jean) Queen; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Verheyden Funeral Home in Grosse Pointe.

A Memorial service will be held at 2pm Wednesday December 4, 2013 in Grosse Pointe Memorial Church, 16 Lake Shore Dr., Grosse Pointe Farms, MI 48236. Inurnment will follow in the columbarium at the church.
