Theresa Helen Higley, 75, of Port Huron died Monday, December 9, 2013.
She was born May 3, 1938 in Hamtramck to the late Bruno and Francis Tomaszewski. Her husband, George Higley died in 1999.
Mrs. Higley was a past member of the Newman Center and current member of Holy Trinity Parish St. Stephen Catholic Church. She was a very giving person, working in soup kitchens while living in North Carolina, where she also loved singing in her church choir. Locally, she was a foster grandparent for Head Start and was affiliated with Council on Aging.
She is survived her son, Glenn N. Tomaszewski (Rebecca Jamison); daughter, Judy Higley Zuehlke, both of Port Huron; other children, Janelle & Joanna Wing and Richard Timothy Higley; and grandchildren, Joshua & Jacob Kelly, Zachary Zuehlke and Brianna Jamison; sisters, Patricia Lancaster, Helen Farley, Henretta Thomas; brother, Bruno Tomaszewski; beloved goddaughter and niece, Venice Golvan; beloved friend, Greg Covach and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Bruno Tomaszewski and Francis Zilo; step-father, Hank Zilo; brother, Alex Tomaszewski; sisters, Maryann Tomaszewski, Virginia Benson and Bernice Green.
Memorial services will be held 11 am Saturday, December 21, 2013 in Holy Trinity Parish St. Stephen Catholic Church with visiting from 10:30 am. The Rev. Brian K. Cokonougher will officiate.
