Joyce G Dillon
Joyce Georgina Dillon, 81, of Marysville, formerly of Coldwater, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2014.
She was born on January 25, 1932 in Sarnia, Ontario to the late Frederick and Dorothy Fralick, and her family moved to Port Huron in 1933. Joyce graduated from Port Huron High School in 1949 and was very proud of her time playing the trombone in the Big Red Marching Machine. Joyce married Clair J. Dillon on August 19, 1950 at St. Joseph’s Church in Sarnia, Ontario.
Joyce sold Avon during her time in Coldwater and was active in St. Charles Catholic Church and school where she volunteered as a lunchlady. More recently, she attended St. Mary Catholic Church and St. Christopher Catholic Church. She was a devoted mother and talented crafter, who enjoyed things like refinishing furniture, sewing, and needlepoint.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 63 years, Clair; daughter, Kathleen (Henry) Motes of Coldwater; four sons, Stephen (Mary) Dillon of Phoenix, Arizona, Timothy (Patricia) Dillon of Fort Gratiot, Joseph Dillon of Glendale, Arizona, and John Dillon of Marysville; eight grandchildren, Tracy, Sara, Kelli, Ryan, Bailie, Michael, Patrick, and Alyssa; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a sister, Donna (Russ)Kelly of Port Huron; two brothers, Frederick Paul (Christine) Fralick of Port Huron and James W. (Joyce) Fralick of Arizona; a sister-in-law, Bernice (Peter) MacDonald of Point Edward, Ontario; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Victoria Dillon; and a daughter-in-law, Pamela Dillon.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2014 in St. Christopher Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Father Arthur Baranowski will officiate.
Memorials may be made to St. Christopher Catholic Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
