Richard Yorke

June 30th, 1939 to January 13th, 2014

Richard Daniel “Dick” Yorke, 74, of Port Huron, died Monday, January 13, 2014.

He was born June 30, 1939 in Port Huron to the late Ernest and Donna Yorke. He married Shirley Oakes on December 2, 1961 in Point Edward, Ontario.

Mr. Yorke was employed with Mueller Brass for 27½ years prior to his retirement in 1992. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and Fort Gratiot Lodge #58 F. & A.M. and a former member of B.P.O.E. Lodge #343 and Moose Lodge #158. He managed a Babe Ruth team for Local 44 that went to the state finals. He was an avid U of M fan and loved sports and politics.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley; a daughter, Deborah Yorke; a sister, Doreen Joyce; two sisters-in-law, June (Ken) McGregor and Ruth (Jim) Pratt; several nieces and nephews; many special friends, including Ed & Sharon Corry and his coffee buddies at Windchill Donuts; and his beloved German Shepherd, “Samson.”

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Thursday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2014 in First United Methodist Church with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Reverend William Wright will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church or the Blue Water Area Humane Society.
