Dan T. Borla, 92, of Smiths Creek, died Wednesday, January 15, 2014.
He was born September 20, 1921 in Romania.
Dan was a WWII Veteran who was awarded five meritorious unit commendation bronze stars for his service in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed golfing, boating, woodworking, fishing, model ship making, animals, the farm, camping and good food.
He is survived by his four children, Beverly (Gary), Daniel (Janis), Diane, and Deb (Bill); three grandchildren, Jill (Tom), Vince (Bernadette), and Meghan; and one and a half great grandchildren, Estelle & T.B.A. (in May). He was preceded in death by his wives, Emily Jean Borla and Betty Borla.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 22, 2014 in the Marysville Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council and the U.S. Army.
Memorial contributions may be made to a Veterans organization of the donor’s choice.
