Louise V Hindes

Louise Viola Hindes, 79, of Port Huron Township, died Monday, January 20, 2014.

She was born August 27, 1934 in Reading, Pennsylvania to the late Daniel and Viola Miller. She married James Hindes on April 10, 1971 in Port Huron. He died September 1, 2003.

Mrs. Hindes was a teacher at Garfield School with the Port Huron Area School District, North Hills Christian School and New Life Christian Academy, retiring in 1996. She attended Michigan State University, Eastern Michigan University, Berean Bible School in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and the Child Evangelism Fellowship Institute. She was a missionary in Germany, and attended First Church of the Nazarene, Port Huron, serving as a Bible teacher and pianist for over 20 years. She enjoyed knitting and loved animals.

She is survived by her friend of over 50 years, Annette Crerar, Annette’s children, Pete (Michelle) Crerar and Lois (Steven) Dunning, and Annette’s grandchildren, Jonathon, Jacob and Jenna Crerar and Alexander and Zachary Dunning; a sister, Janice (Jack) Sands of Reading, Pennsylvania; a stepson, James (Connie) Hindes Jr.; two stepdaughters, Sharon (Gerald) Hudie and Judy (John) Chivers; seven step grandchildren, Richard (Jetta) Marzolf, Alesia (William) Jenkins, Joshua Hudie, Peggy (Ken) Ripkey, Lisa Chivers, Janine (Will) Forton and Krista (Phil) Johnson; 17 step great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2014 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. The Reverend Keith Sparks will officiate.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fort Gratiot. Memorial contributions may be made to New Life Christian Academy or the American Center for Law and Justice.
