David Pickelhaupt

David Pickelhaupt, 90, of Marysville, died Monday, February 3, 2014.

He was born May 12, 1923 in Flint to the late Fred and Mary Pickelhaupt. He married Betty Hall on June 14, 1946 in Port Huron. She died May 18, 2009.

Mr. Pickelhaupt was a foreman with Wirtz Manufacturing prior to retirement. He served in the Pacific Theatre of Operation with the 20th Air Force during World War II. He was an avid U of M fan and football season ticket holder. He enjoyed golf and was a starter at Marysville Golf Course for 18 years. He coached Little League for 17 years and was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Cathy (Gary) MacPherson of Marysville and Nancy (John) Dowd or Port St. Lucie, Florida; two grandchildren, Shawn MacPherson and Ryan Down; a sister-in-law, Joan Pickelhaupt; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and James.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2014 in the Marysville Funeral Home. The Reverend John Hitzeroth will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pilgrim Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
