John Franklin Copeland Jr, 60, of Burtchville Township, died Saturday, February 8, 2014.
He was born December 4, 1953 in Highland Park to the late Emma and John F. Copeland Sr. He married Barbara L. Petty on January 18, 1975 in Madison Heights.
John formerly worked for the Royal Oak Schools. He was a “Man’s Man” that loved Nascar, attending the Woodward Dream Cruise yearly, and tinkering with cars. He enjoyed listening to music and studying music history. He was Freemason and past member of the Bellville Lodge, F. & A.M.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Barbara; two children, Robert Anthony Petty (Claire Gudaitis) of Rhode Island and Sherri Anne Copeland (Glen Lance) of Dearborn; five grandchildren, Robert and Heather Petty, Brittany Ferriss, and Matthew and Victoria Copeland; a brother, Ivan “Duane” (Kim) Copeland; and a sister, Dorothy Copeland.
Visitation will be from 1 - 4 p.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2014 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with funeral services following at 4:00 p.m. Pastor Jason Thomas of Lighthouse Baptist Church and Pastor Troy Piper of Community of Christ Church will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
