William E Schlinkert
William E. Schlinkert, 99, of Marysville, died Sunday, February 23, 2014 in Mercy Hospital, Port Huron.
He was born November 23, 1914 in St. Clair to the late Edward and Augusta Schlinkert. He married Marjorie Turner on September 8, 1940 in Grand Blanc, Michigan. She died April 20, 2004.
Mr. Schlinkert retired in 1977 from Chrysler Corporation after 43 years of service. He was a former Marysville City Council member. He was very active in Pilgrim Lutheran Church. He enjoyed woodworking in his shop. He was a fan of all sports. He was an avid supporter of Marysville High School Volleyball.
Mr. Schlinkert is survived by three daughters, Sharon (Clark) Erickson of Bailey, Colorado, Peggy (Mike) Knowles of Lakeland, Florida, and Rosalie Metzger of Marysville; a son, John Schlinkert of Marysville; nine grandchildren, Andrew Erickson, Peter Erickson, Michelle Rowan, Mike (Anne) Knowles, Bill (Camille) Metzger, First Sergeant (Ret.) Robert Metzger, Deanna (Doug) Rennon, Jessica Schlinkert, and Allison (Frank) Toarmina; eight great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Solomon Metzger, Brendan, Courtney, Natalie, and Erica Rennon, Aidan Erickson, and Matthew Metzger.
Mr. Schlinkert was preceded in death by a brother, Edgar Schlinkert, and a son-in-law, Bill Metzger.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Marysville Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Marysville, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church. The Rev. John Hitzeroth and Rev. Roger Schleef will officiate.
