Dorothy M Mikula

November 2nd, 1922 to April 18th, 2014

Dorothy “Dottie” Marie Mikula, 91, of Port Huron went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 18, 2014.

She was born on November 2, 1922 in Port Huron to the late Floyd and Ethel Barden Kilbourn and was a lifelong area resident. She married Harry Mikula on July 28, 1945. He preceded her in death on May 20, 1986.

Mrs. Mikula was a 1940 graduate of Port Huron High School. She was a lifelong member of Griswold Street Baptist Church where she participated in the Lael Sunday Class, Ladies Missionary Circle, Senior Retirees and Awana Program. She was a Port Huron Hospital Auxiliary and American Red Cross volunteer and was an election inspector for the city of Port Huron.

She was an area bowler for more than 50 years, being inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame in 1984. She bowled in many state and national tournaments over the years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, liked to travel and do crafts. She will be truly missed by all.

Mrs. Mikula is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Edward) Pionk of Gilbert, Arizona; four grandchildren, Stacy (Scott) Thompson, Tammi Sweeney, Scott Mikula and Edward Pionk; five great grandchildren, Morgan Thompson, Austin and Adam Thompson, and Brandon and Cody Sweeney; cousins, Betty Charron of Port Huron and Sue Hill of Wyoming; special friends, Leo and Jody Catanzaro and Lauren and Carol Hager; and her Church Family. She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Mikula in 1985; and a brother, William Kilbourn.

Visiting hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 in Griswold Street Baptist Church. The Reverend James Pettit will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Don Jamison, Jerry Lester, Lauren and Jim Hager, and Adam and Austin Thompson.

Memorials may be made to Griswold Street Baptist Church.
